In April another workshops organized within a framework of a project School Laboratory for the primary school Years 0 – 3 were held. This time chemistry was the main subject. The students found out how to inflate balloons without blowing them up.Young scientists took a challange of filling balloons with gas. Every time different method was applied – neither standard blowing nor any special equipment was allowed to be used. The balloon circumference in any place could  not be less than 30 cm. Carbon monoxide (IV) – Co2 was the gas which was used. It was sourced in a few different ways:
• fermentation of yeast with sugar with the addition of warm water,
• chemical reaction of baking soda with vinegar,
• chemical reaction of decomposition of carbonic acid with the use of calcium / multivitamin and hot water
• chemical reaction of decomposition of carbonic acid with the use of coca – cola and kitchen salt

And the end of the workshops the students learnt about chemical properties of carbon monoxide. But above all they proved in empirical way that ballons can be inflate without being blown. It is possible provided that knowledge and power of science is applied.
